So You Want To Be A Wizard Student Library Aide!

Yes, y'all, I was serious.

Constantine requires new minions for the library! Why? Because he sure as shite isn't going to be shelving all those books, and poor Belle and Jo deserve a break. Hell, new minions means he could promote both of them as, like, 'library aide supervisors' or something with a raise. Fuck knows they deserve it for tolerating him.

Open shifts: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays

Aides are responsible for posting the library one day a week. If two people want to sign up as a team to cover a single day, that's fine with me too. Constantine doesn't give a shit, and I'm just here to enable hijinks.

Your character can apply for the job IC, we can handwave the application process, or you can be assigned to work at the library via the time-honored and GLORIOUS tradition of Moose Paperwork.

Duties include: shelving books, dealing with a hungover librarian, organizing books, loaning books, wrangling books, and ensuring the sustainability of the fabric of time and space. You may be asked to handle awkward book situations, such as: dog-earred corners, sudden fangs, purple prose, books turning into animals, animals turning into books, ponies, BDEs, feeding Special Collections, genre-wars, revisionist history, and the ever dreaded paper cut.

Interested applicants hit me up here or over Discord DMs.

It's been a hot minute, so I figured it was time to post these publicly again.

Welcome to the Fandom High Library.  Special Collections is a Special Place

Library Rules

1. The library is open weekdays 9-5ish, or 10-4(ish) on weekends.  It may be opened after hours with special permission. (Please ask the library aide or librarian at least a day in advance.)

2. Students, faculty, and townspeople may check out any number of books for a period of two weeks if they have a library card. All students and faculty have received library cards at this time; townies may handwave having applied for one or play it out.

3. We love having classes use the library for projects, but please give us an OOC heads up at least a day in advance so we can set up the OCD and call in reinforcements if we need them.

4. The library is fully equipped; it has books and magazines from all dimensions, multidimensional Internet access, and DVDs, VHS and CDs to meet your needs. The books are arranged roughly according to Dewey Decimal System, although the library may rearrange itself when we aren't looking. The materials are on public shelves with a few exceptions:

Certain materials are in Special Collections. The basics are that things are in SC if they:

I. Are obscene. You ARE in high school.

II. Are old, rare or otherwise extremely valuable.

III. Directly concern another character at Fandom High.

IV. Could be harmful -- for instance, instructions on building a complex bomb, or dangerous magical spells.

V.  More sentient that the rest of the books.

Do not feed Special Collections.  Do not play with the happy fun magical wards on the entrance to Special Collections.  To get into Special Collections, students must have a note from a faculty member and link to it in the library thread. If you're researching another cast member, please get and submit their OOC permission as well. Please let the library staff know that you want to go in there a few days in advance so we can moderate traffic. You should really only be going in there for plotty or class purposes.

Special Collections is, actually, sentient, so sometimes things get ... interesting. (It's not exactly in this world, and it's much larger inside than outside).  It's where all libraries across all realities connect. Heck, there's lots of hostile creatures lurking in there! Some of which want OUT.  If you need a SC adventure for plot reasons, contact the librarian via gmail or Discord PM.  The current librarian is really nooooooot a fan of letting children (or anyone) anywhere near the magics living in Special Collections, so IC he'll probably balk at letting people in, especially without an escort. OOCly, the player thinks it's AMAZING and will most likely say yes.

5. As always, in-character actions = in character consequences. Meaning, if you want to play out stealing or vandalizing a book, or otherwise misusing the library, that's your choice, but the librarian uses magic and odds that you'll get caught are very, very high.

6. Library staff operate as a collective; sometimes, the aide on duty will need to check with the others before making a decision. Please be patient. You can apply to be a library aide HERE.

It would probably come to no surprise to anyone that when John Constantine came stumbling out of Special Collections, he was wearing only his trench coat and was still buttoning up his fly.

"Always nice to see you, Blythe!" he yelled cheerfully, flipping off the door as he backed out. "Shame about that deportation back to Hell. I'll cry myself raw tonight, really, I will."

There was an inhuman screech and a flare of light, and the doors to Special Collections slammed themselves shut as he waltzed towards his office.

"The fuck is with all this dust, we get a dust mephit invasion over the week I was gone?" he muttered to himself, flipping open his laptop and leaning down to open the drawer that contained his closest-to-hand booze...

"The fuck is my booze?!?!? Bloody hell, Shellstrop..."

And then a glance at the little digital calendar/clock on the login screen of his laptop.

"...Fucking shite. Winchester's gonna have m'skin over this one."

Well. Might as well post the sign to hire more library minions on the door before he headed home. It didn't look like she'd replaced him while he'd been on accidental walkabout, but looking productive might make the eventual dressing-down less severe.

[OOC: He's baaaaaaaaaaaaack, because I finally remembered to post the post I wrote back in SEPTEMBER. There is no sense of time in Pandemic World.]
